First steps...

The winter time is near, so what to do with snowy streets and cold temperatures? Build a bike! Finally I started to build the first BamBiCi - learning by doing. Obviously it is a long way until the finished two-wheeled bamboo dream is ready to ride. The colleagues of Ozon in Berlin have pleanty of experience, building at least 80 bikes in the last years. So I went to visit them and started to work on it, learning from the best. Hopefully in January the first one will be finished. So far, we used an aesthetically very nice bamboo (Bambusa maculata var.) from Indonesia, which has a nice stained jaguar optic. In spring we hopefully start the first bikes out of Ethiopian highland bamboo Yushania alpina, showing its technological feasibility and creating a basis for further activities in East Africa.

Below you have a small impression of the work of the first three days
