Schloss Reinbek, the historic castle some kilometers East from Hamburg, the Wood and Forestry Research Center, today located in Hamburg, Lohbrügge, started its activities. When 1949 the undergraduate Diploma course "Holzwirtschaft" was established, a new category of an universal wood and forestry professional was born.
This friday, 21th Nov, we celebrate the 75 year jubilee at Schloss Reinbek in the context of our annually happening alumni ceremony "Tag der Holzwirtschaft" (Wood Science Day). For more details please follow the link:

The new web presence of the Federal Thünen Institute is now online. The partner institution implemented University Hamburg projects and staff as well. All in all the website shows to be cleaner and structured regarding important political key areas. Anyway, have a look on your own: www.ti.bund.de

Es folgt eine Szene aus meiner WG-Zeit in Hamburg Horn:
Es ist Sonntag. Um die Mittagszeit. Die drei Türen zum Flur der Wohnung öffnen sich behutsam. T., M., und G. (!) betreten den Raum. Alle mit Köpfen welche um ein vielfaches größer scheinen als noch am Vorabend. M.: "Sonntagfrüh besteht hier Helmpflicht!!"

Nicht zum Thema Alkohol am Lenkrad, aber zur Helmpflicht und das Scheitern eines PKW-Fahrers vor Gericht ein interessantes Interview in der FR-Online.

This time I was'nt really sure about where to place this blog entry. Is it a topic or off-topic?Anyway, I placed it here, since it is full of bike enthusiasm, which is bringing along an abundance of passion - thus, off topic :-)

Fahrradfahren ist nicht nur Sport. Es ist auch keine Philosophie. Auch keine Lebenseinstellung, ebenso wenig ist es ein Zeitvertreib. Aber es ist die pragmatischste, beste und unterhaltsamste Form der Fortbewegung auf kurzen und mittleren Strecken. Deshalb ist es auch Quark zu behaupten, man "verzichte" auf sein PKW, genau so wie es für einen Vegetarier kein Verzicht ist "kein Fleisch zu essen". Weniger ist mehr. Eine Bereicherung ist es jedoch wenn man aus dem Radfahren einen Sport, Philosophie, Lebenseinstellung, Zeitvertreib, usw. macht.
