Prof. Dr. Yan Xiao visits University of Hamburg

Bamboo could complement and substitute wood in several fields. In China, the biggest world producer, bamboo is found in approximately 4.000 different applications. The Chinese are the precursors and pioneers and at least 5 million Chinese families live of this production chain with approximately US$ 3,5 billion/year gross income.
Prof. Dr. Yan Xiao from China was at University of Hamburg to visit us and our SBC project. It was possible to exchange ideas on bamboo composites and o promote our cooperation, for example in a upcoming project in Tanzania. We expect to strengthen this connection to keep walking forward and be able to develop bamboo as an innovative and sustainable construction material.
